Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started drawing as a very young child and always wanted to be an artist. Although life took me on several detours: raising four children, pursuing an education and a career I always came back to my first love and what I seem never to tire of doing. After I retired, I was able to finally pursue my childhood dream of becoming an artist. I enjoy learning new techniques, experimenting with different mediums, and seeing subjects from unique perspectives. Most of my art is an expression of my own viewpoint and represented in abstract, representational art, or whimsy. I want my paintings to elicit a feeling in the viewer. I like abstract art because it provides the viewer a chance to interpret the work from his/her own perspective. It is people, color and emotion that influence what I choose to paint and how I represent the subject. The subjects I choose to paint are eclectic and are decided by the feelings they elicit in me. I particularly like faces and people in general, so I try to capture the feeling rather than specific details. I work mostly in oil but find some subjects are more suited to acrylics.
